Work at home or office? How to get the best of both worlds
In these times of crisis we must know how to take advantage of all the resources we have, that is why I want to talk about how to make a hybrid between telework and office.
Undoubtedly, COVID-19 has broken many schemes, business strategies and ways of managing, causing countless changes in company processes, but could these changes really have a negative impact?
I believe that no, we must learn to balance the two modalities, so that we can take advantage of the best of both worlds.
How could we achieve this?
If we make the best use of resources, we could detail two scenarios:
1. Teleworking allows us to be more flexible and productive with time, personally I have been able to enhance the effectiveness of my work and communication with my team. However, this requires a lot of discipline, order and self-management. Fortunately, there are many tools that allow us to be even more productive in our day to day, such as collaborative digital platforms.
If you are going to work from home, you should take into account some important elements: an excellent internet connection, spaces adapted to work without distractions, always take care of ergonomics, and have tools that facilitate communication and the use of time.
In addition to this, it is important to have a defined daily work routine. Personally, these are some good practices that have helped me to improve my teleworking experience:
- Always get up at the same time.
- Dress as if you were going to the office.
- Create a pleasant workspace.
- Review your task backlog and prioritize.
- Connect with your team and maintain close communication
- Check online tools and programs.
- Take short breaks.
- Follow the company's regular business hours.
- Concentrate to avoid distractions.
2. However, in the office We can have a closer communication with our employees and customers, we are involved in a more professional and collaborative environment, which can be a motivation to work and interpersonal relationships are strengthened. In fact, depending on the type of industry in which we operate, in many companies it will continue to be imperative to work in the face-to-face mode.
On the other hand, we must be responsible and comply with the new regulations on sanitary conditions, such as optimal spacing in work areas, intensifying the frequency of cleaning and so on.
If we all managed to apply both scenarios at the right times, we could effectively carry out both modalities and allow our team a win-win combination.
Undoubtedly, the hybrid between teleworking and offices is here to stay. For many companies this implies a cultural change and an evolution of leadership to adapt to this new situation.
To make this possible, technology can be an important ally. The development of a digital business strategy that leads the company to compete in an increasingly virtual environment takes on enormous relevance.
To conclude, I believe that the most important of all this is adaptability, the world is constantly changing, so this skill, as entrepreneurs and as organizations, must play a fundamental role in management. We must improve the organizational culture, leaders must be trained to know how to solve the new needs that employees may have and how to improve the workflow in order to empower the team and achieve maximum productivity.
This is just the beginning and we must know how to do things the right way.
